麥兜很乖，很鈍，被評定爲多元低智能。麥太整日亂衝亂撲，卻都撲空。麥太决定帶麥兜回國闖天下。她先把麥兜送到武漢山上一武術學校「太乙春花門」寄宿。山上生活清苦，掌門道長滯口滯面。
「國際幼兒園武術大賽」即將舉行，「太乙春花門」小朋友軟手軟脚，看來只有挨揍份兒。小同學四散，麥兜也偷偷下山找媽媽。山下，麥兜無意間得知道長一段往事。麥兜知道後，大爲感動，回到山上跟道長學習推手。
「國際幼兒園武術大賽」，麥兜迎戰各地好打小朋友。這時，麥兜祖宗麥子的巨物突然當、當、當的響起。原來這是個一年等於一秒，每三千六百年才報一次時的大鍾…麥兜忽然領悟出太極拳，以至自己生命的道理。
