一直嚮往上海生活的程韻作為交換生成為了上海某知名大學的學生，帶着未考上大學的迪之與上海本地的光蕙見面併成為最好的朋友，三人彼此交流着自己的心事。光蕙看到叔叔對生病卧牀的嬸嬸關懷備至，這種不離不棄的愛讓她為之感動，同時也激發了她對美好愛情的憧憬和嚮往。迪之是一個喜歡追逐的人，她時刻追逐着自己的愛情和麪包。勇於追逐的個性使她愛上了程韻學校排球隊的年輕教練鄧初，但是鄧初的懦弱和安於現狀讓她失去了生活的激情。她開始尋找藉口遠離鄧初，去追求另一片自由放逐的藍天——衞安，一個電視劇特技演員。光蕙充滿孝心、爭強好勝，她宣告要做一個靠自己努力賺錢買麪包的女人。望女成鳳的光蕙母親迫不及待地給光蕙安排相親，希望能在有生之年看到光蕙嫁一個好人家。為了當個孝順的女兒，光蕙總是儘量滿足母親的心願。
