中國浙江東陽市，在橫店的這小鎮上，有一個比環球影城和派拉蒙影城加起來還大的影視基地，也是全球範圍內規模最大的影視拍攝基地?橫店影視城，因此，這裡又被譽為「東方好萊塢」。便利的拍攝條件吸引了來自全國乃至國際的劇組前來拍攝，催生了一個特別的團體?橫漂。
橫漂，是指那些到橫店拍戲的人，他們大部分是群眾演員。在很多人眼中，這樣的人就等於「讀書不」、「找不到工作」、「發明星夢」...... 《我是路人甲》講述的是關於一些年輕人在橫店尋夢的故事。這些年輕人除了年輕氣盛之外，對於拍戲的過程一竅不通，自然引發連串笑話，這些窩囊的、離譜的、令人啼笑皆非的生活點滴卻也正是每個人成長歷程中的一部分。
