故事講述單身母親兼工作狂的喬琪 (凱花葛咸 飾) 帶著兩個孩子，在倫敦音樂廳觀看由世界著名鋼琴演奏家郎朗 (郎朗 飾) 現場伴奏的動畫片「夢幻飛琴」。期間，喬琪一直為找新房子拼搏而完全忽略了孩子的感受，竟然在「夢幻飛琴」播映後，找不到自己孩子的蹤影。她唯有與郎朗一同踏上夢幻般的尋找之旅，他們途經波蘭、維也納、巴黎、倫敦、北京…
電影獲得觀眾及業界的讚譽，當中的動畫片「夢幻飛琴」更進入奧斯卡最佳動畫短片的提名最後十強；值得一提的是，作為首部結合真人動作和動畫的 3D 電影，《夢幻飛琴 3D 》的八成後期製作與 CG 合成工作均由 Base-FX 北京分公司主理，是中國優秀動畫師與奧斯卡動畫團隊共同打造的心血。
