《黃海》講述了一名為了逃債而從中國偷渡到韓國成為殺手的男人與追殺他的另外一個殺手之間的故事，這也是兩人繼《追擊者》之後又一次上演激烈的追逐戲。劇組和導演為了電影效果特別在朝鮮族自治州延邊的首府延吉實地考察采訪搜集素材，河政佑為演好偷渡到韓國的殺手角色，不惜剪掉頭髮，並與金允錫苦練方言。影片在國內外均獲一遍好評，在亞洲電影大獎和百想藝術大賞備受肯定，獲多項大獎的提名，而河政佑率先封亞洲影帝。
在延邊當出租車司機的久南(河政佑飾)，送老婆去韓國打工，但已有半年多音訊全無，加上賭債高築，於是他接受了買兇殺人組織的頭目(金允錫飾)的誘使，令他偷渡到韓國向黑道中金承玄教授行兇，同時找尋妻子的下落。可惜，久南在韓國行兇事敗，反成為當地警方、黑幫和組織頭目追捕的目標…
