民國年間﹐九大家族鎮守長沙﹐被稱為“九門提督”。這九門勢力龐大﹐外八行的無人不知﹐無人不曉﹐幾乎所有冥器﹐流出長沙必然經過其中一家。1933年秋﹐一輛神秘鬼車緩緩駛入長沙火車站﹐九門之首“張大佛爺”張啟山身為布防官﹐奉命調查始末。張啟山與八爺齊鐵嘴一路探訪﹐發現長沙城外有一座疑點重重的礦山﹐一直被日本人窺伺。為破解礦山之謎﹐張啟山求助同為九門上三門的戲曲名伶二月紅﹐無奈二月紅雖出身考古世家﹐卻心系重病的妻子丫頭﹐早已金盆洗手。張啟山為了國家大義和手足之情﹐北上去往新月飯店為二月紅愛妻求藥。在北平﹐張啟山邂逅了新月飯店的大小姐尹新月﹐并為尹新月連點三盞天燈﹐散盡家財。尹新月幫助張啟山等人順利返回長沙﹐二人暗生情愫。二月紅愛妻病入膏肓﹐服藥後不見好轉﹐最終故去。二月紅悲傷之余卻意外發現家族祖輩與礦山亦有重大關聯﹐於是振作精神﹐決定與張啟山聯手﹐解開礦山之謎。
