廣告導演江慧妮（張栢芝 飾）獲重金聘請遠赴荒島拍攝奶粉廣告，主角是號稱「全銀河系最好打」的武打巨星高大龍（鄭中基 飾）及其女兒高思思（林妙可 飾）。慧妮丈夫路志明（鄭伊健 飾）知悉後不同意，二人口角後志明更帶著兒子離家出走，慧妮決定跟攝製隊出發。
起行前大龍於碼頭邊跟五名神秘人爭執起來，雙方糾纏不清。原來五人手持一張明代藏寶圖，正準備到荒島尋寶；首領蛇哥（劉樺 飾）為怕事情鬧大，逐計畫上島後才對付眾人。一行人來到恍如世外桃源的小島，不過所有手機均無法接發訊號。原來荒島上還潛伏著環保人士阿星（邵兵 飾）及兒子小小星（彭根飾），小小星更偷了蛇哥的藏寶圖，導致二人被追殺；大龍的經理人何能威（王晶 飾）更被蛇哥等人捉走。慧妮、阿星一行人憑藉蛇哥的藏寶圖到達藏有無數金銀珠寶、卻佈滿致命機關的「天外天」；但蛇哥等人尾隨而至，令慧妮他們身陷險境……
